Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course is based on vocational knowledge of entrants about the nature and objectives of university education in general and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in particular, the nature of the future profession, its scope, practical tasks to be performed by a specialist in the chosen specialization.
Course content
The curriculum consists of two content modules: module 1 "Excursion of the history of university education. History of Kyiv University and Faculty ”, which highlights the preconditions, stages of development of classical university education, the evolution of the educational process at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, scientific achievements and heritage of the founders of national economics; module 2 "Statistics as a social science and practice: the essence, origins, formation", which examines the features of the profession of statistics, its professional competencies, scope and areas of application of knowledge and practical skills; the stages of development of statistics as a science, scientific and practical achievements of representatives of various statistical schools, as well as modern tasks assigned to state and non-state statistics, the organization of international and national statistics are covered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the history of university education, features of classical national and foreign higher education, formation of students' theoretical knowledge about the origin of statistics as a practical activity and science, evolution of its development, place of statistics in social sciences and its role in information support. and management of socio-economic processes.
Assessment methods and criteria
Forms of student assessment: (max. 100 points / min. 60 points) 1. Participation in lectures (discussion of theoretical issues) - 15 points / 9 points 2. Completion of a complex task and abstract - 30 points each / 18 points. - final evaluation A student is not admitted to the test if he / she scored less than 45 points during the semester.
