Prerequisites and co-requisites
After studying the "Tourist Country Studies" course, students should be able to freely navigate the theoretical material and: identify and analyze the factors of tourism development (national, European, world level); work with statistical, reference and cartographic materials; to describe world, European, and national recreational and tourist resources; to analyze the peculiarities of tourism development in the countries, regions of the world and Ukraine; apply modern and traditional active learning methods when studying the discipline; to possess the modern conceptual and terminological apparatus of tourist country studies
Course content
Information is provided about the essence, stages of formation and
definitions of tourism country studies; scheme of country research; approaches and
principles of tourist zoning of the world or a single state. In terms of historical
geographical regions of the world (Central, Southern, Western and Northern Europe; Russian
Federation, South Caucasus and Central Asia; East, Southeast and South Asia;
Australia and Oceania; Anglo-America, the Caribbean, Central and South America; Northern and
Tropical Africa; Middle East) and on the example of individual states from each region
information on the territorial organization of tourist activities is provided; and infrastructural resources contributing to formation and functioning
tourism industry, its current state and prospects for development, the place of individual
countries and regions in the world tourist market.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control tests are conducted. For students who during the semester did not reach the minimum grade level (60% of the maximum possible number of points), a final semester test is conducted, the maximum grade for which cannot exceed 40% of the final grade (up to 40 points on a 100-point scale). The condition for receiving a positive grade is the achievement of at least 60% of the maximum possible number of points, while the assessment for learning outcomes cannot be less than 50% of the maximum level (at least 10, 15 and 5 points, respectively). Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam is 40, the minimum number added to the semester marks is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who scored a total of less than 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 38 points.
