Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of such disciplines as "Soil science", "Soil science research", "Chemistry with the basics of geochemistry", "Soil physics". 2) possession of basic skills of diagnosing soils and their properties.
Course content
The course consists of two content modules. In the first content module, the issues of the characteristics of the soil as an object of chemical research, indicators of the chemical state of the soil, chemical analysis of the soil and methods of its implementation are considered. The elemental composition of the soil and the methods of its expression, the compounds of macro- and microelements in the soil, the chemical and mineralogical composition of the solid phase of the soil, primary and secondary minerals are analyzed. The classification and nomenclature of soil organic substances, the nature and mechanisms of humus formation, non-specific organic substances, organo-mineral and mineral-organic substances, the humic state of the soil are considered. The gross chemical composition of the soil, methods of expressing the results of the gross chemical analysis of the soil are analyzed. The second content module is devoted to consideration of the chemical properties of the soil. The composition of the soil absorption complex, absorption capacity, cation exchange properties of the soil, soil acidity, its origin and forms, soil alkalinity and its types, methods of determining the acid exchange properties of the soil, reclamation of acidic and alkaline soils, types of soil buffering and its importance for stability are considered. signs and properties of the soil. Oxidation-reduction processes and regimes of the soil, oxidation-reduction potential of the soil and types of oxidation-reduction regimes, their influence on the chemical state of the soil are analyzed. The issues of chemical pollution of soils, the content of trace elements in soils and their participation in soil formation, biogeochemical cycles and man-made anomalies are considered.
