Learning outcomes
LO01. Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. LO06. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres, including the pedosphere. LO07. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technology, etc. when studying natural processes of formation and development of the pedosphere. LO12. To know and apply theories, paradigms, concepts and principles in Earth sciences, in particular in the field of soil science. LO13. Be able to convey the results of activities to a professional audience and the general public, make presentations and messages.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Biogeography", "Geomorphology", "Cartography". 2. To be able to establish the nature of relationships between the causes, consequences and ways of solving landscape ecological problems. 3. To be able to analyze the negative consequences of unregulated human economic activity from the standpoint of a landscape-ecological approach to nature protection problems. 4. To know the main theoretical provisions of modern landscape ecology, the history of the formation of this science, its structure and regularities of the functioning of the natural environment. 5. To know modern quantitative and qualitative methods of landscape ecological studies, the methodology of studies of natural and transformed landscapes, determination of purity standards of components of the natural environment, organization of geoecological monitoring, etc.
Course content
This educational discipline is devoted to the study of general landscape-ecological problems and the peculiarities of the functioning of landscape ecosystems that are affected by economic and other human activities, the causes of their occurrence, the principles and modern methods used to solve them, as well as the formation of skills and abilities to solve the main landscape-ecological problems in plane of the subject area of ​​knowledge of natural geography. The discipline "Fundamentals of Geoecology" is aimed at deepening theoretical landscape ecological knowledge, forming special professional, social and personal competencies in students, accumulating knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, practical session, analytical work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral survey, blitz survey, tests, presentations, discourse. The recommended minimum for admission is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 36 points (recommended minimum), writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The final evaluation in the form of an exam is conducted in a written format. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40, the minimum number of points added to semester points is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam).
