Course content
The discipline consists of two content modules. The first content module is devoted to the study of properties and characteristics of the Earth's atmosphere, methods of meteorological measurements and observations; the study of the chemical composition of the atmosphere, its vertical structure, the properties of the layers according to the signs of: stratification, the intensity of the course of physical and chemical processes, the degree of ionization, the nature of the interaction with the subsoil surface; the study of the properties of radiation flows in the Sun-atmosphere-Earth surface system, patterns of geographic distribution of the components of the radiation balance of the subsoil surface; mechanisms of heat exchange between the subsoil surface and the atmosphere, the thermal regime of the earth's surface and air in the course of the day and the year; studying the conditions of phase transformations of water in the atmosphere, the main characteristics of air humidity and their daily and interseasonal changes; cloud formation processes, cloud classification; processes of precipitation, classification of atmospheric precipitation; conditions for the formation of fogs, hazes, terrestrial hydrometeors; study of patterns of changes in vertical atmospheric pressure, the structure of the baric field and the properties of its components; wind and the forces that determine it; large-scale air currents in the general atmospheric circulation system; local winds; classifications and main characteristics of air masses and atmospheric fronts; characteristics of adverse meteorological conditions and phenomena. The second content module is devoted to the study of the properties of the Earth's climate system, the peculiarities of the interaction of climate-forming factors, the classification of Earth's climates, hypotheses explaining climate changes, the main features of the climate of past eras, current trends in global and regional climate changes and their consequences.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, practical work, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
Survey, performance of analytical and calculation works, modular control works, exam. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who scored at least 36 points during the semester (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the semester control) are allowed to take the exam in the discipline. Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, need to re-pass the current knowledge control (for example, in the form of a test) in order to pass the exam.
