Learning outcomes
LO01. Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences.
LO05. To be able to conduct field and laboratory studies
LO07. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technologies etc. when studying natural processes of formation and development of geospheres.
LO08. To justify the choice and use field and laboratory methods for the analysis of natural and anthropogenic systems and objects.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
- to know the basic theoretical provisions of chemistry studied in the school curriculum of the course;
- to have elementary skills of writing inorganic reactions and performing the simplest mathematical operations;
- solve problems for each topic;
- to have the skills of operations in a chemical laboratory.
Course content
The content of the discipline includes the theoretical foundations of the laws of chemistry, the main classes of inorganic compounds, oxidation-reduction processes, patterns of the course of chemical
processes, solutions, basic physical and chemical properties of metallic and non-metallic elements. Special attention is paid to geochemical classification of elements, general laws of migration of chemical elements in the atmosphere and hydrosphere.
In the course program, experimental work and practical classes are planned, during which students get acquainted with the simplest techniques of chemical
experiment and consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired at the lectures.
