LO01. Collect, process and analyze information in the branches of the subject area of geographical sciences. LO07. Apply models, methods and data of natural and social sciences, information technologies, etc. when studying the formation and development of objects and processes of the geographical envelope. LO09. Carry out research on the geographical envelope and its spheres using quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis. LO10. Analyze the composition and structure of natural and socio-geographic objects and systems (according to specialization) at different spatio-temporal levels. LO13. To observe moral and ethical aspects of research, intellectual and academic integrity, professional code of conduct. LO14. Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research of natural and socio-geographical objects, systems and processes in the geographic envelope under field and laboratory conditions.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the key provisions of the theory of geographic information systems and technologies. 2. Be able to use GIS tools. 3. To have the skills of applying statistical and stochastic mathematical methods in geography.
Course content
The educational discipline is dedicated to the study of: concepts of models and modeling and their classification; foundations of stochastic state modeling and forecasting of the dynamics of natural geosystems; basics of geoecological model zoning; approaches to the implementation of methodical-optimization and methodical-applied and model-prognostic solutions, as well as methods of thematic modeling of typical natural geosystems, in particular basin geosystems, eco-networks and coastal geotones. The discipline is designed to form students' strategic ideas about methods of modern model-prognostic display of processes and phenomena and the state of objects in natural geography.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, practical session, analytical work
Assessment methods and criteria
Test, performance of creative analytical works. The discipline ends with a written assessment in the form of a test. The maximum number of points for credit is 40 points, the minimum number of points added to semester credits is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for credit). Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum are not allowed to take the test. The recommended minimum for admission to the test is 36 points.
