Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know the basics of general geomorphology and geology, ecology, as well as possess theoretical knowledge (basic school knowledge) of the physical geography of the world and Ukraine, have an idea of the geographical features and specifics of individual natural zones; 2) be able to establish relationships between ecosystem components, analyze them; 3) possess elementary skills of system analysis.
Course content
The content of the discipline covers a wide range of issues from the general regularities of soil formation, their composition, structure and properties, factors of soil formation in individual natural zones and soils within their boundaries to the current state, use and protection of the soils of the world and Ukraine. The discipline consists of two content modules. In the first The module analyzes the essence of the concept of soil and modern approaches to its interpretation, the historical development of soil science as a science, the methodological foundations of soil science, the importance of soil for nature and practical human activity, the factors of soil formation, the phase composition of soil, the main physical, physico-chemical and morphological properties of soils are considered. The second content module examines the basics of soil formation, elementary soil processes, modern soil classifications, analyzes distribution patterns and basic laws of soil geography, soil-geographical zoning. The soil cover of the world and Ukraine is studied in general terms. The module also examines the basic principles of rational use and protection of soil and land resources.
