Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the course "Geography", "Mathematics".

Course content
Cartography with the basics of topography is one of the introductory subjects studied by students of geographical faculties of universities. It provides an introduction to the subject of cartography, the structure of cartography, the properties of a map as a model of the real world, the classification of cartographic works, and the elements of maps. Issues of the mathematical basis of cartographic works are considered, including scales, cartographic projections, distortion of the cartographic image, classifications of cartographic projections and their main properties, projections for world territories, hemispheres, continents, oceans, and states. Issues of geographical features of cartographic generalization on maps are revealed; methods of mapping objects and phenomena, features of map making. The use of cartographic works in scientific and practical literature is analyzed. Tasks are solved using a topographic map.
