Course content
The educational discipline "Fundamentals of mathematical statistics and probability theory" belongs to the mandatory components of the educational program for training specialists at the "bachelor" educational level in the field of knowledge 10 - Natural sciences with the specialty 106 - Geography of the educational program "Natural Geography". The discipline "Fundamentals of Mathematical Statistics and Probability Theory" studies theoretical-probability and statistical methods of collecting, systematizing and processing observation results in order to identify statistical regularities of a feature or features of a certain set of elements and covers the following range of issues: basics of combinatorics, random events and random variables, sampling and its characteristics, as well as paired linear regression. The course includes 2 content modules and 2 modular tests. The discipline ends with a test.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture classes, practical classes using mathematical packages
Assessment methods and criteria
Written modular tests, assessment of work in practical classes, assessment of tasks for independent work. A condition for admission to credit is that the student receives a total of no less than the critical-calculated minimum of 30 points per semester. The form of assessment is written. The credit is evaluated on a 40-point scale. Theoretical questions according to the course program, typical and complex problems are submitted for assessment. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the credit. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points.
