Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the theoretical foundations of physical geography, general hydrology and meteorology at the level of the school curriculum. 2. To have elementary skills of morphometric, hydrological and water balance calculations, methods of processing cartographic information. 3) To have elementary skills of system analysis, to understand cause-and-effect relationships between the components of nature.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is for students to obtain systematic ideas about physical, chemical, hydrological and biological phenomena and processes occurring in lakes and to analyze the geographical features of their manifestation. At the same time, lakes are considered as natural reservoirs, which are depressions on the earth's surface of various sizes and shapes, filled with water, the constant translational movement of which in a certain direction within the basin is either absent or slowed down.
The educational discipline is devoted to the study of the theoretical and methodological foundations of lake science, in particular, in terms of the following basic questions: general characteristics and distribution of lakes, their water balance and level regime, types of lake water movement, thermal and ice regime of lakes, chemical composition of their waters, optical phenomena in lakes, their hydrobiological regime, the composition of bottom sediments and the main stages of the evolution of the lake basin.
The educational discipline "Hydrology of lakes" is a component of the comprehensive training of specialists of the educational and qualification level "bachelor" specialty 103 "Earth sciences" of the educational program "Management and ecology of water resources".

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam).
Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points. Evaluation is carried out throughout the semester for all types of work, including independent work.
