Prerequisites and co-requisites
Operate with knowledge, skills and abilities at a minimum sufficient level of B1 according to CEFR. Abstract of the educational discipline: The educational discipline "Foreign Language for Academic Purposes" for students of the Faculty of Geography is a component of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the educational and qualification level "Master", fields of knowledge 10 Natural Sciences, specialty 103 - Earth Sciences, educational program " Hydrology and integrated management of water resources". Discipline is a must.
Course content
The course program involves solving the following tasks: • psychologically reorient students to the perception of a foreign language as an external source of information and means of communication; • to prepare students for natural communication in oral and written forms by profession; • to teach students to see the English language as a means of obtaining, expanding and deepening systemic professional knowledge, as well as a means of independently improving their professional qualifications; • to reveal to students the potential of the English language as an opportunity to expand their own linguistic, speech, linguistic, sociocultural and other competences in the specialty • contribute to students' mastery of the following competencies: K04. Ability to work in an international context. K16. Knowledge of the main modern provisions of the fundamental sciences regarding the origin, development and structure of the universe, the ability to apply them to form a worldview.
