Learning outcomes
The course of medical chemistry for physicians is a classical model of the university introductory chemistry course adapted to the needs of medicine. It contains elements of inorganic, analytical, physical and colloidal chemistry. The educational process is carried out using the credit-module system according to the requirements of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. The educational discipline study subject is some sections of inorganic and physical chemistry, which enable medical students to characterize the role of individual elements in ensuring the functioning of various body systems; to analyse the influence of various physical and chemical factors on the interaction of different subsystems within the body, as well as the interaction of the human organism with the environment; to use some quantitative chemical calculations for the analysis of biological processes.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Medical chemistry, as an educational discipline is based on student studies of bioorganic chemistry, medical biology, biophysics and is integrated with these disciplines.
Course content
The purpose of the course of medical chemistry is to create a fundamental scientific basis for future physicians in the understanding of general physicochemical regularities that underlie the processes of human life; to give students a well-grounded understanding and knowledge of basic physicochemical regularities that determine the course of chemical and biochemical processes in the human body in the process of life; to acquaint them with the fundamentals of chemical methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis; to teach them to classify chemical properties and chemical transformations in the human body in the process of life; to teach them to apply their knowledge in practice.
