Prerequisites and co-requisites
For successful competition of the course, students must first master the disciplines: "Fundamentals of translation theory (by language direction)", "Translation practice", "Practical course of the first oriental language", etc. Students should also know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics and translation studies; to have the skills of lexical-grammatical and stylistic analysis of original works.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to develop and improve students' language and translation skills in the field of scientific activity in oral and written forms.Abstract. Within the discipline "Sci-tech Tranlsation (Chinese Language)", the principles and methods of translation in the field of scientific activity from Chinese into Ukrainian and vice versa are realised in practice, and the ability to effectively participate in various forms of scientific communication in the field of Chinese philology is formed. The course includes 2 content modules. Module 1 is aimed at mastering the competences of the translator's professional activity within the scope of publicizing the results of scientific activity (publications, reports at conferences). Module 2 is focused on the specifics of the translator's work within scientific discussions, round tables, audiovisual presentations, etc. The discipline ends with an exam.

The total grade consists of points received for work during the semester (maximum – 60 points, minimum – 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum – 40 points, minimum – 24 points). The format of the exam is written-oral: it consists of 2-x written tests that involve the translation of texts from Chinese into Ukrainian and vice versa (15 points each); the third task involves the oral translation of regular expressions from Ukrainian into Chinese and vice versa (10 points). The exam is conducted in Ukrainian and Chinese according to the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1; LR 1.6; LR 2.1; LR 2.2; LR 2.3; LR 3.3; LR 4.1. The evaluation criteria are presented in detail in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
