Understanding and knowledge of fundamental and clinical biomedical sciences, at a level sufficient for solving professional tasks in the field of health care. PRN 21. 1. Successful completion of the Medical Biology, Medical Chemistry course. 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of medical chemistry, morphological disciplines, anatomy and physiology. 3. Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and work in a chemical laboratory.

"Biological and bioorganic chemistry" is a science that studies: biomolecules and the molecular organization of cellular structures; general patterns of enzymatic catalysis and biochemical dynamics of transformation of the main classes of biomolecules (amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleotides, porphyrins, etc.); molecular biology and genetics of informational macromolecules (proteins and nucleic acids), that is, molecular mechanisms of heredity and implementation of genetic information; mechanisms of hormonal regulation of metabolism and biological functions of cells; biochemistry of special physiological functions (functional biochemistry - including biochemistry of liver, blood, urine, nerve, muscle and connective tissue). The study discipline "Biological and bioorganic chemistry" is taught to students of the first and second years (for two semesters).
