Learning outcomes
PR03. Use theories and laws of mathematics, physics, chemistry and other sciences to solve problems of modern biology.
PR04. Understand the basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the boundaries of subject areas.
PR08. Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental biological processes, structure and functions of living organisms.
PR15. Apply in professional activities methods for determining the structural and functional characteristics of biological systems at different levels of the organization.
PR16. Choose methods, algorithms for planning and conducting field, laboratory, clinical and laboratory research, including mathematical methods and software for research, processing and presentation of results.
PR17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of scientific-theoretical and practical material of academic disciplines: "Chemistry", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Molecular Biology", "Biochemistry", "Biophysics".
2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, etc. disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature.
3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological laboratories.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of patterns of time, speed and mechanisms of chemical reactions. The main issues concerning the identification and characteristics of various enzymatic and transport processes, the kinetics of metabolic transformations are considered. Knowledge of the importance of quantitative interpretation of experimental results in biophysics and biochemistry, the importance of mathematical description of biochemical processes.
