Learning outcomes
PR08. Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental biological processes, structure and functions of living organisms. PR15. Apply in professional activities methods for determining the structural and functional characteristics of biological systems at different levels of the organization. PR17. Through self-study to master new knowledge and modern methods of experimental research to solve problems of biology. PR22.6. Predict the possibility of adaptation of physiological systems of the body to physical and mental stress.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses "Cytology", "Zoology", "Physiology of nerves and muscles", "Anatomy and physiology of man and animals". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of cytology, zoology, physiology and anatomy, etc. disciplines, work with scientific and methodological literature.
Course content
The discipline studies the laws of evolution, structural organization and functioning of the autonomic nervous system, its central and peripheral links and afferent pathways. The course considers the structural and functional organization of the autonomic reflex arc, autonomic ganglia of the sympathetic and parasympathetic parts, nerve centers and neuroeffector connections, sympathetic and parasympathetic physiological effects. The discipline is taught in the amount of 72 hours. The course includes 2 content modules and 2 module tests. The discipline ends with an exam. Knowledge gained from the discipline "Physiology of the autonomic nervous system" can be used in research of physiological sciences (CNS physiology, circulatory physiology, digestive physiology, physiology of work and sports, etc.) and in other sciences (pharmacology; environmental physiology, psychology , zoopsychology, etc.).
