Learning outcomes
PK04. Understand the basic terms, concepts, principles, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the boundaries of subject areas.
PK06. Apply the principles of taxonomy, methods of detection and identification of non-cellular life forms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
PK08. Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental biological processes, structure and functions of living organisms.
PC10. To establish regularities of interaction of living organisms of different forms of structural organization with each other, features of influence of various factors on living organisms and to estimate their role in biosphere processes of biotic transformation of substances and energy.
PC11. Analyze the forms of relationships between micro- and macro-organisms with the definition of the main directions of these processes.
PC14. Use knowledge and understanding of the basics of general ecology, the principles of optimal nature management and nature protection.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses "Microbiology", "Biochemistry", "Fundamentals of Ecology".
2. Be able to work with information databases, independently develop scientific and methodological literature.
3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in the biological laboratory.
Course content
The discipline "Ecology of Microorganisms" covers issues of modern ecological areas of microbiology, analyzes the adaptive potential of microorganisms, their indicator role in assessing the environment, explains the strategies of microorganisms, patterns of development and communication interactions of their natural populations.
