Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the course History of Foreign Literature (Bachelor Degree of Higher Education) and the following courses of Master programme “History and Theory of Western Literary Criticism”; “Foreign Theories of Literature”; “Foreign Comparative Literature Studies”. 2. Free usage of basic literary concepts necessary for the conduct of literary analysis.
Course content
In mastering the discipline " Archetypal Literary Criticism and Gender Studies in Literary Studies " students acquire fundamental knowledge and practical skills of analysis and interpretation of literary works through the prism of basic archetypal, mythocritical, feminist theories and gender criticism. The subject of the discipline comprises the theoretical and practical heritage of writers and literary critics working in the field of archetypal and mythocriticism, as well as feminist criticism and gender studies. The content of the course is based on a comparative principle, which allows a better understanding of the essence of archetypal and mythocritical methodology, which from the beginning implies the possibility of comparative analysis, and feminist criticism, which gave impetus to gender studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study encompass lectures, seminars, and students’ self-study. Forms of tuition include answers at the seminars, writing essays, and a final test paper.
Assessment methods and criteria
Formative assessment during semester. In-process evaluations of academic progress are worth of up to 60% of the semester grade and include grade points for all the tasks assigned in the course – max 30 / min 15–for answers at the seminars, max 15 / min 11 for writing essays, max 15 / min 10 – for the final test paper. Summative assessment is carried out in the form of exam. It weighs of up to 40% of the course grade. Students have to obtain no less than 36 points to be entitled for an examination. To get a positive course grade, the exam grade should not be less than 24 points. Examination card includes two theoretical and/or applied questions: in Archetypal Criticism (max 20 / min 12 points) and in Gender Studies (max 10 / min 6 points).
