The main theoretical and practical areas of research in petroleum geology; modern methods and techniques of scientific research aimed at solving fundamental and applied problems; structure and sequence of scientific research; structure of scientific institutions of Ukraine, whose research is related to oil and gas geology. Be able to determine the purpose, object, subject, objectives of research, choose the methodology and optimal methods of laboratory research; to choose the basic and secondary parameters, to make correct conclusions at calculations and generalization; Independently present the results of research at seminars, conferences in the form of presentations and preparation of publications (abstract, thesis, article, monograph). Understand individual responsibility for the organization, conduct and results of research.

Full-time form

Knowledge of physics, chemistry, mathematics (at the level of non-core specialties), geochemistry of oil and gas, basics of geophysical research in wells, geophysics, lithology, oil and gas fields and underground gas storage, petrography of reservoir rocks, hydrocarbon reserves, regional and geological stratigraphy and historical geology, personal computer skills and laboratory research.

Science and research, their purpose, structure, tasks. Basic and applied science. Historical aspects of the development of natural sciences in the world and in Ukraine. The structure of science in Ukraine, academic, university and departmental science. The structure of scientific research at the Kyiv National University and the Institute of Geology. Intellectual Property. Choice of direction, purpose, object and subject of scientific research. Definition of methodology and research methods. Literary review of research issues. Sequence of scientific research in oil and gas geology, field and laboratory work. Approbation of scientific research - presentation at a seminar, preparation of an abstract, thesis, article, master's thesis. Authenticity and scientific novelty, academic integrity, plagiarism.

Lectures, practicals, consultations, independent work of students.

The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and involves practical work, where students must demonstrate the level of knowledge acquisition and solve problems using certain methods and research methodologies, oral interviews during lectures, 2 written modular tests. The final evaluation is conducted in the form of a test.
