Learning outcomes
PR01. Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. PR05. To be able to conduct field and laboratory studies of processes in the atmosphere and other geospheres. PR06. Identify the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres. PR08. Justify the choice and use field and laboratory methods to analyse natural and anthropogenic systems and objects.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know the basics of general geomorphology and geology, ecology and have theoretical knowledge (basic school) of the physical geography of the world and Ukraine, have an idea of the geographical features and specifics of individual natural areas; 2) be able to establish relationships between ecosystem components, analyze them; 3) have elementary skills of system analysis, understand the cause and cause-and-effect relationships between the components of nature.
Course content
The discipline consists of two content modules. The first analyzes the essence of the the concept of soil and modern approaches to its interpretation, modern theoretical and methodological foundations and theoretical and methodological foundations and priority areas of soil science research, the importance of soil for nature and practical human activity, phase composition of soil, basic physical, physicochemical and morphological properties of soils. The second content module considers the factors of soil formation, the basics of soil soil formation, modern world and Ukrainian soil classifications, analyzes regularities of distribution and basic laws of soil geography, soil-geographical zoning, the pedosphere as a global shell, its place and role among other geospheres of the Earth. In general terms, the soil cover of the world and Ukraine is studied. Also in module considers the basics of rational use and protection of soil and land resources.
