Know: Standards of higher education for writing a master's thesis, approach and direction of research work. Be able to: Use laboratory equipment to perform research work, use geographic information systems to process and interpret research results, compile documentation, including a report on practice in its further uses, in particular in writing a master's thesis

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of disciplines "Modeling of geological processes and structures", "Micropaleontology", "Environmental assessment of subsoil use projects" according to the curriculum of the 1st semester of OS Master.
Course content
Students are acquainted with the general provisions of the Law of Ukraine on Higher Education Master's degree, which provides for the acquisition of in-depth theoretical and practical competencies of the chosen specialty, sufficient to effectively perform innovative tasks of the appropriate level of professional activity. And also acquaintance with standards of higher education, concerning writing of qualifying work of the master. Carrying out of research work without separation from educational process. Research work is to test the results of the student's independent scientific contribution on the materials received and processed by him personally, as well as to include an analysis of literary sources. Also to interest the student in further work in the relevant direction and approbation of the results of research at scientific conferences or their publication in scientific journals.

Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment in the form of differentiated credit. The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. Differentiated test is estimated at 40 points (marginal score of 24 points). The final grade for the internship is set taking into account: Research work and data processing based on research results in the 2nd semester - 30 points (marginal score of 18 points). Interpretation of the results obtained in the 4th semester - 30 points (marginal score of 18 points). Differentiated credit is given based on the results of the student's work during the entire period of research practice, as the sum (simple or weighted) of points for systematic work in the 2nd semester and points for work in the 4th semester, as well as for the defense of the report.
