Learning outcomes
-Know the basic environmental principles, ways of implementation and criteria for the effectiveness of environmental policy
-Know and understand the basic internationally recognized principles of environmental assessment
-Know the main components of the environmental protection system in Ukraine
-Know the basic regulatory requirements for environmental assessments.
-Understand the differences between different environmental assessment procedures: the environmental impact assessment report from the EIA, the conclusion on the environmental impact assessment from the environmental e-examination
-Able to identify and describe the sources of environmental impact, including the implementation of subsoil use projects
-Able to identify, classify and describe the factors of environmental impact, including the implementation of subsoil use projects
-Able to assess the impact of environmental components, including geological environment, on subsoil use projects

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the structure of the geological environment (including geochemical and geophysical fields), hazardous geological processes and methods of subsoil use.
Course content
Characteristics of the main factors that determine the ecological state of natural-industrial complexes, as well as the basic principles of assessing the impact of subsoil use on the environment. The place and role of environmental assessments in environmental policy, the basic principles of environmental policy formation are considered; mechanisms of state regulation and control in the field of environmental safety in Ukraine; regulatory framework for environmental assessments and nvironmental,procedures in Ukraine (screening, EIA, environmental review, environmental audit, environmental impact assessment report): analyzes the completeness of internationally recognized principles of environmental assessment in environmental procedures assessments in Ukraine from 1995 to the present on the example of subsoil use projects; factors of environmental impact in the implementation of subsoil use projects and assessment of their impact on individual components of the environment.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, writing essays, independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
Test work № 1 is carried out not earlier than 6 weeks of classes, and test work № 2 - not earlier than 10 weeks of classes. Students receive personal assignments for writing an essay no later than 4 weeks before the end of the semester. The final test is performed by students in the last week of the semester. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a test, which is set based on the results of three tests and writing an abstract.
