Learning outcomes
Collect, evaluate, interpret and use geospatial data, metadata on objects of natural and man-made origin, apply statistical methods of their analysis to solve specialized problems in the field of geodesy and land management. Organize and perform remote, ground, field and in-house work in the field of geodesy and land management, draw up the results of work, prepare relevant reports.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the course "Higher Mathematics". 2. Successful mastering of "Fundamentals of Geoinformatics". 3. Representation of GIS and high-level programming languages (Python, Delphi, BB, etc.) and / or computer mathematics systems (Matlab, Scilab, Mathematica, Octave, etc.). 4. Understanding of current issues in the field of geodesy and land management.
Course content
Discipline is divided into blocks: In the first block the general questions of the theory of probability and statistical processing of geodata are considered: - classical, statistical definition of probability, geometric probability, basics of combinatorics; - the concept of random variable and distribution of random variables, types of statistical distributions and methods of estimating statistical parameters, basics of correlation, histogram analysis, testing of statistical hypotheses; - Theory and practice of applying the least squares method in the field of Earth sciences. In the second block the questions of application of mathematical methods for problems of processing and balancing of results of geodetic measurements are considered. (parametric and correlation methods) sources of errors and methods of their correction and prevention.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
lectures, practical work, consultations, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: performance of 6 practical works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher) and course work. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written exam.
