Learning outcomes
Know: Stages of geological and techno-economic study of the subsoil. Stages of geological and economic assessment. Classification of stocks and resources of solid minerals and hydrocarbons. Methods of valuation of mineral deposits. Be able to: Calculate the number of forecast and prospective resources of the allocated area using various methods. Choose and substantiate the conditions for calculating reserves in accordance with the chosen method of calculation and the complexity of the geological structure of the deposit. Calculate reserves by means of geological and operational blocks, geological sections and horizontal plans.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the course "Structural geology and geomapping", "Search and exploration of mineral deposits", "Mathematical statistics" or similar in content. 2. Have skills in working with geological sections, large-scale maps and plans, spreadsheets and other data sources
Course content
There is an introduction to the basics of quantitative, qualitative and cost assessment of resources and reserves of minerals. The methods of calculating reserves are studied depending on the geological and mining conditions of the development of deposits. Students acquire practical skills in analyzing the results of geological exploration at various stages of subsoil development.

Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment in the form of an exam: maximum assessment 40 points, cut-off assessment 24 points. Assessment during the semester: 2 module papers, each of which is assessed at 10 points and practical papers in the amount of 40 points. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written and oral exam
