Learning outcomes
The student must know the essence of the fundamental principles that underlie the creation and transmission of information flows, ready-made work and conclusions of information theory used in the assessment of information characteristics of message sources and telecommunication channels, methods of using ready-made solutions to information theory problems in the development, production, implementation and operation of software and hardware means of transmission, processing and protection of information. The student must be able to classify the sources of information flows and telecommunication channels, explain their purpose and principles of operation, use conclusions, work and canonical mathematical methods of the theory of information transmission in the development, manufacture, and operation of software and hardware means of information transmission, processing, and protection, independently acquire new knowledge, prepare materials for reports and publications.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The educational discipline "Theory of information transmission" is a mandatory component of the educational program and uses the results of the mandatory disciplines "Higher mathematics", "Special sections of higher mathematics", "General physics", "Fundamentals of circuit theories", "Digital signal processing" , "Fundamentals of the theory of information transmission", "Signals and processes in radio engineering", which are taught at the "Bachelor" OP and are the basis for the mandatory components "Mathematical modeling of systems and processes" and "Adaptive signal processing systems".
Course content
The main provisions of information theory and message transmission are considered in the academic discipline. The methods of mathematical description of signals, messages, interference and telecommunication channels, methods of managing the information parameters of signals, information characteristics of signals, sources of messages, interference and telecommunication channels and the stability of the message transmission process are taught. Assessments of the effectiveness of maintaining information flows in networks and the fundamental principles of its improvement are considered.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: during the semester, one written modular test (PKR) based on lecture materials is provided. Another form of control is an oral presentation at a seminar or an essay based on self-study materials. The critical and calculated minimum is 36 points per semester. Final evaluation (in the form of an exam): the form of the exam is written and oral. The exam ticket consists of 4 questions, each question is evaluated from 0 to 10 points. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, while the exam grade cannot be less than 24 points.
