Learning outcomes
The student should know the features of the nuclear structure and types nuclear models; physical causes and statistical nature radioactivity.; mechanisms and features of different types of radioactive decay; peculiarities of nuclear reactions involving charged particles and neutrons; practical application of nuclear reactions; principle of operation and main characteristics of a nuclear reactor; controlled and uncontrolled thermonuclear fusion reactions; the problem of controlled fusion; structural features and characteristics charged particle accelerators; basic concepts and ideas of cosmology; basics of dosimetry. The student must be able to solve typical tasks that require use of basic methods of nuclear physics; to find the optimal method necessary for solving problems; be able to use knowledge about the movement of charged particles in an electromagnetic field to explain and analyze work accelerators
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The educational discipline "Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics" is based on the cycle of disciplines of professional and practical bachelor's training, namely: "General Physics" (including optics, mechanics, electricity), "Statistical Physics", "Differential Equations", "Quantum Mechanics", " Probability theory". Prerequisites: master should know: basic laws, equations and relationships of electricity and magnetism, atomic physics, statistical physics, quantum mechanics and relevant sections of the theory of differential equations and theory of probability. a master's degree must be able to: set physical problems, identify practically expedient approaches to their solution, and use mathematical methods necessary in each specific case.
Course content
The study of the discipline "Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics" makes it possible to understand the essence of such phenomena, technologies and problems: 1) methods of analyzing processes in nuclear and mixed atomic-nuclear systems based on atoms and molecules; 2) transformation of the physical properties of matter in the range from quarks, nucleons, nuclei, atoms, and molecules to large and superlarge ensembles in the form of plasma, gas, and solids; 3) mechanisms of nuclear fission and fusion reactions; 4) principles of operation and main types of nuclear reactor designs; 5) nuclear fusion implementation mechanisms and systems; 6) the foundations of cosmology, starting with the Big Bang and up to the present time; 7) ways of formation and evolution of stars of different masses; 8) basic concepts of dosimetry and radiation safety.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the academic semester has two content modules. A cumulative grade for the colloquium and the modular test with a score of at least 36 is mandatory for admission to the exam. Final evaluation (in the form of an exam): the form of the exam is written and oral. . In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
