Learning outcomes
The student must know the basics of the special theory of relativity, the basics of the theory of the electromagnetic field, the basics of the theory of radiation of electromagnetic waves; Radiation of antennas; dipole radiation in the near zone; basic linear and non-linear characteristics of substances (electrical and magnetic); basics of diffraction theory; waveguides and resonators. The student must be able to solve typical problems that require the use of electrodynamics methods; to find the optimal method necessary for solving the problem of electrodynamics, a problem, a technical engineering task.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To study the discipline "Electrodynamics" it is necessary to successfully master the following courses: "Mathematical Analysis", "General Algebra", "Differential Equations and Probability Theory", "Mechanics", "Theoretical Mechanics", "Molecular Physics", "Electricity and Magnetism".
Course content
"Electrodynamics" includes the main sections of vacuum electrodynamics and continuous medium electrodynamics and includes the following main content modules: special theory of relativity, electromagnetic field equations, electromagnetic waves, electromagnetic fields in matter (radiation), diffraction and interference, interaction of electromagnetic waves with matter. The presented topics and methods are widely used in the study of other disciplines in the following semesters of the bachelor's degree and in the master's degree.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes; independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: in the first semester, three written tests based on the material of practical classes and 5 tests based on the material of lectures are provided. According to the results of the semester evaluation, a student can receive a maximum of 60 points. In the second semester, it is planned to conduct three written tests based on the material of practical classes. According to the results of the semester evaluation, the student can receive a maximum of 40 points. Final evaluation - in the first semester (in the form of credit): the form of credit is written orally. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for credit. The final assessment in the second semester is in the form of an exam: the form of the exam is written and oral. A total of 0 to 60 points can be obtained for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain at least 60 points, while the exam grade cannot be less than 20 points.
