Learning outcomes
The student must know the basic laws of electricity and magnetism; basic properties of dielectrics and magnets; peculiarities of the behavior of metals in electrostatic field; the system of Maxwell's equations in differential and integral record forms; basic properties electromagnetic waves; classical theories of electrical conductivity solid bodies, contact phenomena; basics of emission electronics; basics of gas discharge physics. The student should be able to find the tension distribution electric and magnetic fields for objects of different configurations; find the potential distribution, capacity, resistance for different objects configurations; calculate the distribution of charges and fields in conductors and dielectrics; own a mathematical apparatus for application of the system of equations Maxwell; calculate the movement of charged particles in crossed electric and magnetic fields, master the method Hall; determine the main characteristics gas discharge plasma.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The study discipline "Electricity and magnetism" is based on a cycle of disciplines professional and practical training, in particular, "Mechanics", "Molecular Physics", "Mathematical analysis", "General algebra".
Course content
The discipline program examines the laws of Coulomb, Ohm, Faraday, full current, Ampere, Biot-Savard-Laplace, Gauss's electrostatic theorem, as well as the system of equations Maxwell and its partial cases for vacuum and dielectric and magnetic media. Mechanisms and classical theories of polarization of dielectrics and magnetization are considered magnets The properties of electromagnetic waves, sources of their creation and conditions are analyzed dissemination. The theories of electrical conductivity of Drude-Lorentz, Sommerfeld, basics of emission electronics, gas discharge physics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: control is carried out according to the following principle. Session has two content modules. After the completion of the relevant topics, two written tests are conducted colloquiums and two written modular tests. To determine the level achievement of learning outcomes, tasks for modular works are checked by theoretical ones knowledge and the ability to apply them to the solution of specific physical problems. Mandatory for admission to the credit, you must write the 1st and 2nd colloquiums and the 1st and 2nd modular tests works with the number of points of at least 10 points for the colloquium and 5 points for the control work. The final assessment is in the form of a credit, the form of the credit is written and oral. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the credit a positive grade for a discipline is to receive at least 60 points, while a credit grade is not may be less than 24 points.
