Learning outcomes
- Be able to formulate and solve problems in the field metrology related to observation procedures facilities, measuring, monitoring, diagnosing and forecasting taking into account the importance of social restrictions (society, health and safety, security environment, economy, industry, etc.) - Know and understand the principles of operation and structures of optical and optoelectronic information measuring systems.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basics of electrodynamics, the basic concepts of the general course of optics. 2. Be able to - change the amplitude and phase of the electromagnetic wave, measure spectra radiation and absorption, angular dependences of scattered intensity radiation. 3. Have basic knowledge of mathematical analysis.
Course content
"Fiber optics and optical communication" includes the study of sections: fiber optic lines communication, two-dimensional planar dielectric optical fibers, rectangular optical fibers, round cylindrical optical fibers (optical fibers), physical principles of construction of fiber-optic communication lines.

Teaching methods: lectures, laboratory, weekly CONTROL previous material by answers to specific number of questions modular control work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: 1. Modular test 1: (0-10 points), Laboratory work: (0-10 points); 2. Modular test work 2: (0-10 points), Laboratory work: (0-10 points). Final in the form of an exam: (0-60 points).
