Learning outcomes
1.1. Knowledge of the classic and modern theories of social structure, their conceptual frameworks, and the mainstream strategies of socio-structural analysis. 1.2. Knowledge of historical and contemporary tendencies of structural changes in societies. 1.3. Knowledge of the basic components of social structure and theoretical models of their investigation. 2.1. Ability of applying the social structure theories to identification and explanation of social processes through the prism of socio-structural phenomenon. 3.1. Presentation the student’s independent work, qualified participation at the study-discussions. 4.1. Independently search, analyze, generalize of social information, justify conclusion about structural processes in Ukraine and other modern societies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the classic and basic modern sociological theories of society. 2. To be able to collect and initially analyze the sociological information. 3. To be able critically analyze the publications, theoretical texts, generalize and justify the empirical conclusions.
Course content
Theoretical prospects of socio-structural analysis. Methods of socio-structural research. Principal dimensions of social structure: Distributive (resources and capitals); Cultural (structures of sense, identities). Status structures: social positions and distance; status (in-)consistency. Class structures and class agency. Generation, age and gender dimensions. Intersectionality issues. Religious, and rase dimensions. Regional, urban\rural, ethnic and civic dimensions. Kinship, neighborhood, solidarity issues. Occupational structures and employability. Network structures of acquaintance and trust. Social capital and confidence issues. Structural features of modern societies: industrial, Postindustrial and post-Socialist changes. Social structure of contemporary Ukrainian society: critical dimensions and singularities.
