Learning outcomes
- Have the skills to work with modern computer technology, be able to use standard software packages and program at a level sufficient for the implementation of numerical methods of solving physical problems, computer modeling of phenomena and processes in optics and laser physics, conduct computational experiments.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Have basic mathematical training in mathematical analysis: integration and differentiation, Fourier series, theory of functions of complex variables.
2. Have basic concepts and qualitative ideas about the phenomena of diffraction and interference of light.
Course content
Within the discipline "Diffraction Theory of Images" the set of phenomena that occur when light propagates in free space and in the presence of amplitude and phase obstacles - the phenomenon of light diffraction is studied. The diffraction of light is considered in the framework of scalar theory using the mathematical apparatus of Fourier transform. The influence of diffraction on image formation in optical systems is studied. Practical examples of application of Fourier methods of optics are considered. The basic concepts and ideas of scalar diffraction theory, which are taught in the framework of "Diffraction Image Theory", help to deeply understand the processes of light propagation in space in the presence of obstacles and image formation by optical systems.
