Learning outcomes
- Know and understand the basic concepts of metrology, measurement theory, mathematical and computer modeling - Be able to choose a standardized method of evaluation and measurement control of product characteristics and process parameters - Be able to organize and conduct measurements, technical control and testing - Be able to establish a rational nomenclature of metrology characteristics of measuring instruments to obtain results with specified accuracy - Know the standards of metrology, measuring instruments and metrological product quality assurance - Be able to organize the procedure of measurement, calibration, testing in a group or individually - Know and understand the subject area, its history and place in sustainable development of machinery and technology - Fluent in the terminological base of the specialty, understand the scientific and technical documentation of the state metrological system of Ukraine, international recommendations and guidelines for the specialty.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The course program is aimed at students who have basic school knowledge of physics and mathematics.
Course content
The course includes the physical foundations of optical measurements, the theory of optical metrology and methods of measurement and design of optical measuring systems, as well as their application in various fields of physics and engineering.

Semester assessment: 1. Modular test 1: (0-20 points), Survey: (0-10 points) 2. Modular test 2: (0-20 points), Survey: (0-10 points). Final evaluation - 40 points.
