Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Have a basic set of knowledge of biology, geography, general science, history of philosophy and political science, ontology, epistemology, know the basic principles of philosophy on the theory of scientific knowledge and logic on the laws of thought. 2. To be able on the basis of knowledge about the peculiarities of the functioning of natural and social systems to correlate social and socio-ecological ideas in accordance with the current challenges of regulating socio-natural relations. 3. Have basic skills in research and information management; critical attitude and forecasting regarding the development of socio-natural relations, political events and phenomena; search for information from open sources on the state of the environment, the use of foreign language professional information sources.
Course content
The discipline acquaints students with the basics of environmental knowledge and patterns of functioning of socio-natural systems. The object, subject and basic methods of social ecology as a branch of social sciences are defined. The history of formation of ecological knowledge and development of relations in the system "society-nature" is analyzed. The main causes of the global environmental crisis and the preconditions, ways and means of overcoming the threat of a global environmental catastrophe are highlighted. The basic principles of implementation of social and ecological policy of the modern state are revealed.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral report, discussion, abstract (essay) Criteria. The following are subject to assessment in seminars: the level of knowledge and completeness of disclosure of the issue in oral reports; activity in discussing issues and argumentation of one's own position in discussions; use of additional sources in preparing the report; ability to critically analyze ideas and statements presented for discussion; meaningful content of the presentation material and its free and interesting presentation. Criteria for evaluating independent work (abstract / essay) are the presence of independent, scientifically sound commentary (with reference to the main and additional literature for the course), the formulation of opinions using professional terminology and compliance with deadlines for independent work
