Know - Basics of description of elastic scattering and nuclear reactions. - The process of nuclear fission and the principles of operation of nuclear fission reactors. - Understand the principles of operation of nuclear reactors and nuclear power plants. - Master the diffusion method for solving the neutron transfer equation. - Be able to use the apparatus of the diffusion method to solve the simplest problems of reactor physics. - Know the equations of point kinetics of the reactor and their asymptotic solution - Know the areas of application of nuclear reactors, features of the fuel cycle of nuclear energy in reactors of different types and their advantages over other sources of neutrons and energy
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of basic courses of physics: "Mechanics", "Molecular Physics", "Electricity", "Optics", "Nuclear Physics". Be able to solve problems in basic physics courses. Have basic computer skills to search for information on the Internet.
Course content
providing students with basic knowledge about nuclear reactors, nuclear energy. In the process of learning, the processes that take place in nuclear reactors are described - fission of the nucleus, chain reaction, energy release, interaction of neutrons with matter.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture demonstration; seminars; independent work; consultations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge evaluation is being carried out according to the modular-rating system. The content module 1 includes 1 - 2, and the content module 2 includes topics 3 – 4. It is a mandatory requirement to pass successfully an exam is the development of problematic cases (summery) and a positive mark for each of the two modular control work. In case of a negative mark obtained for control module, a student is obliged to pass again a failed modular control work according to the procedure established. Under repeatable passing a modular control work or granted access to a modular control work based of permission from the deanery, a maximal value of a control modular rating mark is being lowered by one in comparison with above-mentioned.
