Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes include knowledge of the fundamental laws of the electromagnetic field, the laws of macroscopic electrodynamics, the laws of propagation of the electromagnetic field in media, the basic principles of the theory of electromagnetic fields in vacuum and the special theory of relativity, relativistic mechanics. Also, as a result, students are acquainted with the basic approximations of the equations of electrodynamics and basic models of the electromagnetic field behavior in a continuous medium, as well as able to solve complex specialized problems and practical problems in physics and astronomy in professional activities or further study, which involves the use of certain theories and methods of physics and astronomy and is characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students should rkow the basic laws of electricity, optics, mathematical analysis, ordinary differential equations, basics of mathematical physics. In particular, they should know the Euler-Lagrange equation, Green's function for differential equations, Ostrogradsky-Gauss and Stokes theorems, Legendre polynomials, spherical functions (harmonics), cylindrical functions, Bessel, Hankel, Neumann and MacDonald functions. Remember the expressions for the gradient, divergence, rotor and Laplace operator in cylindrical and spherical coordinate systems. It’s necessary to be able to apply previous knowledge of mathematical analysis, mathematical physics, basics of vector and tensor analysis and differential equations to solve algebraic and differential equations and systems. Have basic skills in calculating derivatives, integrals, executing of operations with vectors, graphically plotting functions, defining and decomposing functions into a series and Fourier integral.
Course content
The normative discipline "Electrodynamics" is a component of the professional training cycle of specialists of educational and qualification level "Bachelor of Physics". It is basic for the study of all physical disciplines. The course of electrodynamics is designed to deepen the knowledge of classical electrodynamics obtained in the general course of physics, to master the mathematical apparatus of classical field theory and based on it - Maxwell's electromagnetic field theory, its relativistic representation, and the theory of electromagnetic fields in continuous media.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures - 30 hours, practical classes - 30 hours, independent work - 60 hours, consultations.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the module-rating system, which consists of 2 content modules. The knowledge assessment system includes current, modular and semester control of knowledge. Forms of current control: assessment of homework, written independent assignments, tests and tests performed by students during practical classes. The student can receive a maximum of 40 points for homework, independent assignments, oral answers, tests, additions to practical classes (20 points in each content module). Modular control is 2 modular control works. The student can receive a maximum of 20 points for modular tests (10 points for each work). A student is not admitted to the test if he / she scored less than 24 points during the semester. The final semester control is carried out in the form of a graduated test (60 points).
