Learning outcomes
The result of studying the course "Workshop on Mechanics" is an experimental study of basic physical laws; mastering by students of practical skills of using measuring instruments, and experimental equipment; obtaining physical information from the experiment, as well as mastering the culture of recording the information obtained, the ability to correctly present the results in the form of graphs, tables; mathematical processing of experimental results.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must know: 1. Basic principles and laws of mechanics, their mathematical formulation, and physical content. 2. General principles of operation and general information on the scope of application of measuring equipment; causes of errors in measurements of physical quantities, methods for assessing the accuracy of the results. 3. General safety rules for experimental research. The student must be able to: 1. Independently perform laboratory work on the course of mechanics. 2. Work with simple experimental equipment, measuring instruments, estimate the errors of measuring instruments. 3. Process and explain the results. 4. Evaluate the orders of magnitude measured and determined physical quantities, their accuracy, and the degree of reliability of the results. 5. Calculate measurement errors and formulate conclusions. 6. Independently work with educational, methodical, and reference literature on the course of mechanics.
Course content
1. Methods of measuring physical quantities and estimating the errors of measurement results. 2. Laws of uniformly accelerated motion. 3. Determination of free-fall acceleration using a mathematical and physical pendulum. 4. Laws of dynamics of rotational motion. Oberbeck's pendulum. Maxwell's pendulum. 5. Inertial properties of solid bodies in rotational motion. Ellipsoid of inertia of solid bodies. Forced precession of gyroscopes. 6. Laws of conservation. Determination of ball velocity using a torsional ballistic pendulum. 7. Forces of friction and resistance. Investigation of the force of rolling friction using an inclined pendulum. 8. Elastic deformations of solids. Determination of the tensile modulus of the wire. 9. Standing elastic waves. Determination of the speed of sound in the air. Determination of the speed of sound and Young's modulus of solids. Determination of natural string oscillations. 10. Oscillations of connected systems.

Laboratory work
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment of knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. It consists of 2 modules. Forms of current control: assessment of the level of laboratory work and submission of reports on their implementation. The student can receive a maximum of 50 points for each module. The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale in the semester: 100 points for content modules, credit score is calculated as the sum of points received by students in the preparation, implementation and delivery of laboratory work.
