Learning outcomes
P01. Know and understand the scientific concepts and modern theories of chemistry, as well as the fundamental foundations of related sciences.
P02. Deeply understand the basic facts, concepts, principles and theories related to the subject area mastered during the master's program, use them to solve complex tasks and problems, as well as conduct research in the relevant field of chemistry.
P08. Be able to clearly and unambiguously convey the results of one's own research to a professional audience and/or non-specialists.
P9. Collect, evaluate, and analyze the data needed to solve complex chemistry problems using appropriate data processing methods and tools.
P12. Assess risks in professional activity and take preventive actions.
P13. Analyze scientific problems and propose their solutions at an abstract level by decomposing them into components that can be investigated separately.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
In order to better master the educational material of the discipline, students must successfully master courses in "Inorganic Chemistry", "Analytical Chemistry", "Organic Chemistry" and "Coordination Chemistry" with references to the basics of biochemistry. Have skills in searching for scientific information and translation from English.
Course content
In the program of the discipline, the main attention is paid to familiarization with the toxicity of chemical elements and their impact on the biosphere. The relationship between chemical properties and biological activity of substances is considered; the possibility of predicting their toxic effect not only on living organisms and ecosystems, but also on the entire biosphere as a whole. Within the framework of the specified course, students get acquainted with various directions of toxicology, study the mechanisms of toxic action of chemical elements, the basic laws of interaction between the body and the toxicant, the concepts of dose, effect, target, homeostasis, critical concentration, and others. Special attention is paid to methods of identification and deactivation of toxic substances in all parts of ecosystems.
