Learning outcomes
Р05. Knowledge to understand the relationship between structure and properties of substances. Р06. Knowledge to understand the periodic law and the periodic table of elements, to describe, explain and predict properties of chemical elements and compounds based on them. Р11. Skill to describe properties of aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic, and organometallic compounds, to explain nature and behavior of functional groups in organic molecules. Р12. To know main synthesis pathways in organic chemistry, including f interconversion of functional group and formation of carbon-carbon, carbon-heteroatom bonds. Р21. Ability to monitor and analyze scientific sources of information and professional literature.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic concepts of organic chemistry. 2. Be able to draw formulas of organic compounds. 3. Have basic skills in writing organic reactions. 4. Have basic knowledge of general chemistry. 5. To have an idea of the basics of organic chemistry of heterocyclic compounds within the course program "Organic chemistry of aromatic and heterocyclic organic compounds"
Course content
Electronic representations, structure and reactivity of heterocyclic compounds; application of physical and physicochemical research methods in organic chemistry of heterocyclic compounds. Relationship structure - properties for the main classes of heterocyclic compounds. Strategy and tactics of modern organic synthesis of functionalized heterocyclic compounds, mechanisms of transformations and properties of the main classes of heterocyclic organic compounds.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester control includes homework and tests. The evaluation is based on a 100-point scale. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the semester assessment is 60 points / 36 points. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student in the exam is 40 points / 24 points.
