Learning outcomes
Knowledge to understand key chemical concepts, essential facts, concepts, principles, and theories relating to natural sciences, life and earth sciences, as well as chemical technologies at a level sufficient for professional application and to enable further deep understanding of specialized fields of chemistry. Knowledge to understand the relationship between structure and properties of substances. Skill to apply basic principles of thermodynamics and chemical kinetics to solve professional tasks. Skill to analyze and evaluate data, to synthesize new ideas concerning chemistry and its applications. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of main facts, concepts, principles, and theories in chemistry. Ability to evaluate and minimize environmental risks in carrying out professional activities.

Basics of Ecology, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Basics of materials science are nessesary for the course
Course content
The course considers efficient, cost-effective, competitive and safe technological production of modern materials in the form of powders, single crystals, glasses and composites. Particular attention is paid to the influence of structure and defects on the properties of the obtained materials.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester control includes work in practical classes, including oral examinations, tests and surveys on the laboratory works. Evaluation is carried out on a 100-point system. The maximum / minimum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the semester assessment is 100 points / 60 points.
