Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of national and foreign language mastery to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in the national and foreign languages. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles. PLO 20. To perform pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various styles and genres. PLO 24.1. To apply corresponding strategies and tactics in the process of translating and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts. PLO 24.1. To apply written translation techniques from Ukrainian into English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The syllabus is designed for students who have studied English as their first foreign language for three semesters as part of an MA curriculum and who have achieved required results, specifically: Mastered the courses in Techniques of Specialized Translation, Comparative Rhetoric of English and Ukrainian, Specialized Translation Theory, English for Academic Purposes, Medical Translation, Legal Translation and Translation of Contracts, Translation of English Specialized Texts, Techniques for Written Ukrainian-to-English Translation, Revising and Editing English Translated Texts. Obtained knowledge in translation theory, comparative stylistics, and English and Ukrainian terminology studies. Mastered techniques and methods of linguistic and translation analysis, obtained IT skills in word processing, machine translation, specialized texts corpora, and search systems.
Course content
The discipline is optional for students who have chosen to study written translation in professional communication. It covers theoretical and practical aspects of translating academic texts in the area of the Humanities, Linguistics, Literature Studies, Translation Studies, Politics, Economics, and Law. The discipline is aimed at forming practical skills in written English-to-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-to-English translation of academic texts which takes into account target language standards, terminological and pragmatic factors, and professional terminological vocabulary. English and Ukrainian are used for teaching and assessment.

Final assessment is by a pass/fail test.
