Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is aimed at students who have got the qualification of a Bachelor degree and have successfully passed theoretical and practical language and translation disciplines in accordance with Educational and Scientific Programme for Master students. To carry out the tasks of translation internship students must have an appropriate command of the native and English languages, to know the main techniques of interpreting and translation, to have background knowledge for the efficient work within specialized translation and rendering cultural aspects of translation.
Course content
The aim of the translation internship is to teach a student to apply acquired university knowledge of English, Ukrainian, and Translation in the work with real texts, real employers, and to meet translation deadlines. Besides, as a result of internship, a student should deepen and receive new knowledge in translation of specialized texts. Students undergo their internship at organizations and establishments which need or provide translation services from English. In accordance with the full-time translation internship a student is required to work as an interpreter and translator of general and specialized texts from English into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into English.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational tasks during the semester:
• To translate a source text;
• To compile a glossary on the subject matter of the source text;
• To write the report on the internship;
• To gather all the necessary documents;
• To defend internship results.
Assessment methods and criteria
Students are assessed according to the quality of their translation and submitted relevant documents, as well as the ability to meet the internship deadlines. The documents that a student should submit include: a translation itself and a source text, a report on the internship, a reference from an employer (internship organization). The maximum score is 100 points which equals to the mark excellent. The minimum score is 60 points which equals to the mark satisfactory. The translation is assessed at max 70 points and min 44 points, editing of a supervisor’s corrections ‒ at 10 and 6 points respectively. The maximum score for the report documents and their defence is 20 points, the minimum score is 10 points. The tasks which are assessed to pass a differentiated pass/fail exam on internship are as follows: LO 1.3; LO 1.4; LO 2.1; LO 2.3; PH 2.4; LO 4.1; LO 4.2; LO 4.3 (LO is learning outcomes).
