Learning outcomes
2. To analyze, comment and summarize scientific and analytical texts of culturological format. 4.To know and understand theoretical approaches to definition of culture, its manifestations and forms of existence. 5.To collect, organize and analyze information on cultural phenomena, events, historical and cultural processes. 7. To understand the factors of cultural dynamics, the principles of periodization of cultural processes, their specific features and characteristics. 8. To interpret cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and certain methods, tо reasonably present conclusions regarding their content.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of knowledge, abilities and skills provided by the educational courses "Introduction to the specialty", "History of world culture", "History of philosophy".
Course content
Methodological aspects of cultural studies. Mythology as a cultural phenomenon. Religion as a cultural phenomenon. Development of cultural theory. The evolutionary concept of culture. Diffusionism and the theory of "cultural circles". Functionalism of B. Malinowski and A. Radcliffe-Brown. Sources and origins of psychological anthropology. Historical ethnology of F. Boas. School "culture and personality". Gaming concept of culture. Interpretive anthropology. Peculiarities of American cultural thought development in the second half of the 20th century. Formation of historical and cultural thought in Ukraine. Phenomenology of culture. Structuralism and the study of culture. The main concepts of myth research in the 19th and 20th centuries. Futurological concepts in cultural studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral presentation, additions and participation in discussions at seminars: 45 / 75 points
2. Self-study (essay): 5 / 10 points
4. Control paper: 10 / 15 points
5. Written exam: 24 / 40 points
Final assessment in the form of exam: the final number of points in the course (maximum 100 points) is determined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester and the exam.
Examination assessment is in writing. The examination ticket consists of 2 questions, each of which is evaluated on a scale of 20 points, which gives a total of 40 points for the exam.
