Learning outcomes
1.1 To know the main trends in the development of Ukrainian studies as a research field, geopolitical and socio-cultural factors of development, the main research centers and leading researchers, the main achievements. 1.2 To know the main types of ethno-territorial units of Ukraine. Historical and ethnographic zoning of Ukraine. Material and spiritual components of Ukrainian folk culture. 2.1 Conduct intercultural research, using the conceptual apparatus of Ukrainian studies and the latest methods and approaches to characterize socio-cultural processes in Ukraine and in the cultural regions of the world. 2.2 Demonstrate knowledge of specialized literature on Ukrainian historical and cultural research. 2.3 Analyze trends, patterns, causes and consequences of development and problems of Ukrainian society. 2.4 Ability to identify distinctive features of Ukrainian culture in the intellectual and artistic spheres, themes of Ukrainian folklore and value-semantic mechanisms.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students should be aware of cultural-historical, socioeconomic and sociopolitical processes in Ukraine.
Course content
1. Ukrainian studies as a research field, basic concepts and definitions. Classical and contemporary cultural theories and research methods of Ukrainian studies 2. Material and non-material components of Ukrainian culture: socio-historical aspects. 3. Socio-political ideas of contemporary Ukrainian studies. 4. Ukrainian studies and socio-economic aspects. 5. Contemporary trends of coexistence of Ukrainian and world cultures under conditions of globalization and intercultural dialogue.
