Learning outcomes
To know and understand: the essence of political phenomena, to possess and be able to apply the basic conceptual and categorical apparatus of political science; current political problems of modern society; regularities of political life, political relations and processes, modern models of political order, their place and role in the life of the state and society; main political processes in Ukrainian society and state, features of international socio-political interactions, the place and status of Ukraine in the modern world. Be able to: analyze political phenomena, interpret them from the standpoint of modern political science knowledge; identify and reveal the essence of current political problems, conflicts of modern society, their conditions and factors of origin and settlement; be able to apply socio-political knowledge in everyday life. Present the results of research and independent work in the form of reports, reports, essays, presentations, abstracts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the features of the functioning and development of modern society, politics and power, human interaction with social and political institutions, special characteristics of modern Ukrainian society. Be able to collect and interpret information on political processes; apply basic terms, categories of analysis of socio-political phenomena and processes. Have skills in research and information management; use of information sources.
Course content
1. Politics as a social phenomenon, theoretical knowledge and form of activity. 2. The evolution of political knowledge. 3. Political system as a mechanism for the formation and functioning of power in society. 4. Power as a social phenomenon. 5. Social rule of law and civil society. 6. Socio-political associations in the political system. 7. The main trends in modern world politics.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral report, additions and participation in discussions at seminars - 22/33 points. 2. Independent work (study of human development, society, politics, economics, culture) - 4/7 points. 3. Tests - 10/20 points (2 tests of 5 minimum / 10 maximum points each). final assessment - exam - 24/40 points.
