Learning outcomes
PR03. Be able to calculate the composition of nutrient media, determine the features of their preparation and sterilization, to control the quality of raw materials and finished products based on knowledge of the physicochemical properties of organic and inorganic substances. PR07. Be able to apply knowledge of the composition and structure of cells of different biological agents to determine the optimal conditions for cultivation and the potential of the studied cells in biotechnology. PR09. Be able to prepare the basic nutrient media for the cultivation of various biological agents. Evaluate the peculiarities of the growth of biological agents in media of different composition.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successfully master the disciplines of "Cell Biology", "Molecular Biology", "Anatomy and physiology of plants", "Microbiology", "General genetics". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, anatomy and plant physiology, microbiology and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment that used in biological and biotechnological laboratories.
Course content
The course considers the peculiarities of nutrition and conditions of cultivation of cells, tissues and organs of plants in vitro, methods of growing isolated plant cells, tissues and organs depending on the purpose of research, microclonal plant propagation, cell selection, cryopreservation of plants, cell and genetic engineering; biotechnological approaches based on the cultivation of plant cells, organs and tissues on artificial nutrient media under controlled conditions in vitro, which open up fundamentally new opportunities for basic and applied research.
