Know the basics of botany, mycology, physiology and biochemistry of plants and fungi, virology and microbiology, genetics and molecular biology of viruses in the normative and special disciplines taught in previous years of study. 2. Be able to apply knowledge and skills in the field of plant biology and virology, acquired during previous training, to search and analyze the scientific literature. 3. Have the skills to work with a light microscope, be able to use the determinants of plants and fungi. 4. Have the skills of abstract thinking, analysis and synthesis.
Course content
The discipline is an integrated biological discipline, which aims to study the patterns of occurrence and spread of plant diseases, examines the relationship between host plants and their pathogens, highlights the peculiarities of the mechanisms of susceptibility and resistance of plants to pathogens. During the study of the discipline the idea of non-specific and specific factors of resistance is formed, which are manifested at different levels of organization and different stages of infection. The discipline considers the mechanisms of genetic control of plant resistance to pathogens, lays the scientific and theoretical foundations of obtaining virus-resistant plants by modern biotechnological methods, as well as highlights the role of environmental conditions in pathogenesis and develops the ability to predict plant diseases and substantiate methods and means of disease prevention.
