Learning outcomes
PLO 7. Analyze, compare and classify different directions and schools in linguistics.
PLO 9. Characterize theoretical foundations (categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of chosen philological specialization
PRN 10. Systematize linguistic, literary, folklore facts, interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on chosen specialization).
PRN 13. Explain the essence of specific philological issues, author`s point of view on them and its justification both to specialists and to the general public, in particular to students.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know theoretical differential criteria for distinguishing different types of media communication;
2) be able to analyze a media text with attention to extra- and intralingual factors of mass media style formation;
3) have elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude to the analyzed linguistic phenomena; working with multimedia texts and electronic sources; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in exploratory situations.
Course content
The discipline systematizes students' knowledge of the style of mass information, emphasizes the attention on modern Internet communication as a special type of virtual communication. Stylistic and genre characteristics of Internet communication are analyzed, types of Internet texts in modern media discourse are examined in detail, with attention to extra- and intralingual features of virtual communication. Particular attention is paid to the principles and methods of linguistic work with Internet texts as informational multi-platforms, which are considered in modern relevant paradigms of media linguistics.

Scientific report, analysis of Internet media texts, creation of Internet content for an information portal.
Assessment methods and criteria
The credit is based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. The students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material in the form of writing control works, essays, or, if necessary, write a final test.
