Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of mastery of national and foreign languages to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and academic communication; to present the results of their studies in these national and foreign languages. PLO 14. To create, analyze, and edit texts of various genres and styles. PLO 20. To undertake pre-translation analysis of specialized texts of various styles and genres. PLO 24.1. To apply appropriate strategies and tactics in the process of translating and editing medical, legal, academic and newspaper style texts. PLO 25.1. To apply written translation techniques from Ukrainian into English and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of translation studies, traditional and modern scientific paradigms of the modern English language. Possession of techniques and methods of linguistic and translation analysis of units of all levels of the English language, skills of working with a text editor, machine translation programs, corpora of professional texts, search engines.
Course content
The educational discipline introduces students to the theoretical and practical aspects of various types of editing of English-language professional texts of scientific and popular scientific styles (linguistic, literary (including folklore), translation, political, economic, legal and medical) with an emphasis on translated texts, features of the professional activity of editors in Ukraine and abroad, forms in students approaches to the implementation of editorial tasks and basic skills of various types of editing. Teaching and assessment takes place in English and Ukrainian.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practical classes, independent work, modular control paper.
Assessment methods and criteria
Throughout the semester, practical classes are held on relevant topics, on which evaluation is carried out according to the types of work and the form of the exam, described in clause 7.1. The semester final grade is formed by the points received by the student in the process of performing the declared types and forms of education, and the points received on the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
