Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students should complete the educational courses СС 13. Ukrainian Сeremonial Сulture, СС 16. History of Ethnocultural Studies and СС 29. Ukrainian Oral Culture. Should know folklore genres, main schools, directions and approaches in Ethnocultural Studies. Be able to identify texts of traditional folk culture, work with various sources, make generalizations and conclusions. To have basic skills of analysis of folklore sample; search and processing of ethnocultural information.
Course content
Purpose of discipline - to acquaint students with Ukrainian traditional musical culture in historical, theoretical and practical aspects, to form an interest in song and instrumental folklore. To inculcate practical skills of analyzing musical samples and recognizing different time layers. Annotation. The educational discipline "Ukrainian folk musical culture" is one of the main components of the training of specialists under the educational program " Ethnoculturology with Advanced Study of Foreign Language". In the complex of specialized educational disciplines, this course is related to Ukrainian ritual and oral culture and is necessary for further study of the disciplines "Folk Music Reconstruction Methodology", "Regional Specificity of Folk Musical Culture", "Ukrainian Folk Song Performance", "Criticism and Analysis of Ethnocultural Project" , "Directing the ethnocultural project". The educational discipline is aimed at forming students' knowledge of Ukrainian folk musical culture, the laws of its development, genre composition, will help to understand the uniqueness and originality of traditional musical creativity, the peculiarities of performance and everyday life of each genre, their genre structure and melodic composition.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes 2 content parts. The discipline ends with an exam. The first part – a general characteristic of musical culture, the structure of the science that studies musical creativity; peculiarities of group performance, regional specifics of singing traditions; analysis of musical samples of calendar and family rites, features of ceremonial (ritual) singing. The second - musical features of non-ritual folklore, analysis of lyrical genres, social and family lyrics, overview of folk musical instruments, traditional composition of instrumental bands, specifics of everyday life and performance of various genres of musical folklore. Forms of education: lectures, seminar classes, independent work. During the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, at which evaluation is carried out according to the types of work (oral response, individual task (presentation, essay), intermediate control test, exam)
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 50% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility - 50% of the overall assessment. Assessment of semester work: oral answer, individual task, intermediate control test: 36/60 points. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation): oral answers, individual tasks, intermediate control tests, and for independent work.
